Duties and Responsibilities

City Clerk

The City Clerk’s office is responsible for keeping the official seal and documents of the City of Tennille, including:

  • Maintains the City Charter and Code of Ordinances.
  • Assist Mayor and City Council Members
  • Prepares agenda and minutes for City Council meeting
  • Serves as filing officer for ethics reporting.
  • Custodian of city records; contracts, minutes, answers and open records requests.
  • Payroll
  • HR functions
  • Acts as Qualifying Officer for Elections and Elected Officials reporting.
  • Accounts payable
  • Manages city property/automobile liability schedules
  • All Financial Functions
  • Administrative staff supervisor

Asst. Clerk

  • Provides customer services; receives utility payments; initiates new customer accounts.
  • Public works administrative contact
  • Accounts receivables including property tax; alcohol sales, franchise tax, etc.
  • Assess monthly cut offs for non-payment.
  • Setting up new accounts, transfer and closing utility accounts.
  • Acts as notary public for the department and the public.
  • Coordinate training for public works.

Court Clerk

  • Collects and receipts payment for court fees, fines and warrants
  • Maintain court files
  • Attend court, prepare monthly court calendars, dockets and case files for hearings
  • Assists Municipal Court Judge and Solicitor
  • Citation Status
  • Primary contact for Social Media, Website, and Newsletter
  • Acts as notary public for the department and the public
  • Code enforcement and P&Z administrative contact
  • Processes business and alcohol license applications and renewals
  • Building permits
